A Delicious Diversity Event

I used one of your morale boosters. It was last year around Super Bowl. You had one side of the room root for one team and the other half root for the other team.

We took that idea and changed it up a little.

We had a block party and divided into nationalities. That way it celebrated diversity as well as a morale booster.

Everyone brought in a dish from their heritage.

There were Irish, German, Latin, America, Italian, Polish, Hawaiian.

Some teams brought in breakfast so we could eat all day long.

The employees decorated their teams for the nation they choose to celebrate.

The employees had so much pride in their nationalities, it was really inspiring to see them talk about their upbringings, some shared grandma’s recipes.

It was a really nice day, everyone enjoyed themselves. We scheduled each team 1/2 hour so they would not be waiting in line to eat. The did it around lunch time.

Everyone got to go around to the other teams and sample the food from different countries.

Some details: We have many different areas. There are about 200-300 people in each area and about 12 – 15 teams in each area.

Each team picked a Country and others did a “melting Pot” since that is what our country is all about.

Each person in the team brought in a dish. It was so popular that every operation decided to follow suit. The employees truly had a great time.

A. Indonesia

Joke of the Week

A nursery school teacher was delivering a station wagon full of kids home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. A Dalmatian was sitting in the front seat. The children started discussing the dog’s duties.

“They use him to keep crowds back” one youngster said.

“No,” said another. “He’s just for good luck.”

A third child brought the argument to a close.

“They use the dogs,” she said firmly, “to find the fire hydrant.”
