Choose a different country to plan a theme around each month as you go around the world.
- Decorate your department in the theme of that country. Travel agencies may help you get posters.
- Hold a casual day mid week, and celebrate with a snack from the country such as chips and salsa for Mexico, mini egg rolls from China, etc. Local restaurants may want to sponsor this. You can also give everyone a little token gift from the country.
- Assign different employees to tell about the history and geography of the country. Showing slides or a movie would be a great addition. The public library, book stores, or the Internet can help you get information.
- Put a large map of the world on a wall and mark the country that you have celebrated.
With so much diversity in the workplace you can even choose countries where your employees or their families came from, and they can tell their personal stories.
Employees will look forward to the monthly travel theme as they learn to value the diversity of many cultures through the world.

Joke of the Week
Preparing a meal for my entire family, I had assumed I could just double my favorite lemon pie recipe. However, when it came time to serve dessert, I found that the filling had not set. I served the runny pie anyway, apologizing profusely.
Everyone politely avoided mentioning the state of the dessert until my brother finished his and asked, “Can I have another cup of pie?”
