Celebrate Pets Day

People’s pets are like their children. People like to talk about their pets and show them off. Here are some things you can do when you have a – Celebrate Pets Day – at your company.

  • Have employees bring in pictures of their pets. Put the pictures on a bulletin board, and have employees guess which pet belongs to which employee.
  • Have an essay contest – What My Pet Means To Me. Post the essays with the picture of the employee and his or her pet.
  • If your company allows it, choose one or two employees to bring their pets to work for the day. People love to play with little puppies or kittens.
  • Have a pet parade. Allow employees time to go home for lunch and bring back their pets. Give prizes for the youngest, oldest, most unique, cuddliest, furriest, best behaved, best decorated, best trained, etc.

Give employees who don’t have pets special jobs, such as being one of the judges, etc.

Have a representative from the ASPCA at your event with some adoptable pets.

Joke of the Week

One day while on call at the hospital, my mother, a nurse, was out shopping. As she was leaving a store, she realized she had misplaced her cell phone. She looked everywhere, but it was nowhere to be found. In a panic, she returned to the store to see if anyone had turned it in.

One helpful clerk suggested she would call my mother’s cell phone. Imagine my mother’s embarrassment when her purse started ringing.
