Employee Morale Activity:

Father’s Day Celebrations

Fathers Day is June 15th. This is a time to recognize the importance of fathers in their children’s lives.

Idea #1 Fathers Day Family Picnic

June is the perfect time to celebrate Father’s Day with a Picnic for your employees’ families. This will help employees get to know each other better and get along better at work.

* Introducing the Families

Have everyone form a large circle. Then have one family at a time go to the center of the circle. The father then introduces his wife and children.

Provide name tags for everyone.

* Activities to plan

Relay races

Softball game

Hide and Seek

Treasure Hunt

Award prizes to the winners.

Those in your company who do not have children can help run the activities and serve the food. Or you can have the managers cook Hot Dogs and serve the food. If your budget is low make it pot-luck with everyone bringing the food.

Idea #2 Fathers Day Office Lunch

If you can’t hold a family picnic, then have an office lunch time celebration. Fathers show pictures of their children and take turns telling about their children’s ages, activities, etc.

Afterwards post the father’s and children’s pictures on a bulletin board for all to see.

Give each father a gift certificate for something they can do with their children – movie tickets, tickets to the zoo, etc.

Employee Morale Special Days to Celebrate

June is: Pay-It-Forward Month

This is a month to fill your emotional (and financial) bank account with credits for things you do for yourself and others in advance.

When you give before you get, you will feel more deserving when others want to do something for you, or when it is time for you to ask others for help.

Activity ideas:

* Notice when a coworker is “swamped” and volunteer for a task they normally do.

* Buy lunch for someone anonymously.

* Make an effort to find out the birthdays of your co-workers, friends, and family members, and send cards.

* Bring your lunch and snacks to work, and put the money you save into your “splurge” fund. Once a month buy yourself something special.

* Make a car payment to yourself. Put the money in a savings account. Earn interest. Then when you have enough money saved, buy the car. Continue making payments to yourself for the next car.

June is also…

  • National Safety Month
  • Perennial Gardening Month
  • Vision Research Month
  • Adopt A Shelter Cat Month

1 – Marilyn Monroe’s Birthday

8 – Belmont Stakes

14 – Flag Day

16 – Father’s Day

21 – First Day Of Summer

Plan ahead

July is:

Telecommuter Month

Answer to This Week’s Trivia Question

Q. What is found at 1313 Harbor Boulevard, Anaheim, California?

A. Disneyland

Joke of the Week

My five year old son squealed with delight when he opened his birthday present from his grandmother. It was a water pistol. He promptly ran to the sink to fill it.

“Mom,” I said. “I’m surprised at you. Don’t you remember how we used to drive you crazy with water pistols?”

My mom smiled and said, “Yes, I remember.”
