Hawaiian Day

You can transform your workplace into a Hawaiian paradise and plan a day everyone will remember.

June 11th is Kamehameha Day in Hawaii. It celebrates King Kamehameha who united all the islands. There is a parade every year in Honolulu to celebrate. So, that week would be a great time for your party.

  • Decorate with posters you borrow from travel agencies.
  • Encourage everyone to wear Hawaiian clothes. Award a prizes for the best, most creative, funniest, etc Hawaiian clothes.
  • Give out flower leis (Artificial flower leis can be purchased from a novelty store.)
  • Play Hawaiian music.
  • For fun, at your party (which can be lunch or a snack break) the managers can perform the Hula dance.
  • Ask your local florist to donate some tropical flowers.
  • Serve snacks of Macadamia nuts and Hawaiian tropical fruit – papaya, pineapple, mangos, cocoanut, etc.

Joke of the Week

“I thought I had some money,” my husband said, surveying his empty wallet. “Do you have $20?” he asked.

I work at home and don’t usually carry a lot of cash, but I had found $40 in my husband’s jeans the last time I did laundry and had triumphantly hoarded the cash.

“I think this is yours,” I said, relinquishing the money.

“Where did you get this?” he said happily.

“Oh,” I replied casually, “it is laundered money.”
