Employee Morale Activity:

Spring Flower Parade

Spring flowers are blooming everywhere and making people feel great after the long winter. Therefore, this is a perfect time to bring that spring sunshine into the workplace. Many of your employees grow beautiful flowers, and would love to share them with their co-workers. Grocery stores are also filled with low cost spring flowers.

Ask employees to bring in small fresh flower bouquets in disposable containers. The containers can be jars, salad dressing bottles, etc. That way no one will lose an expensive vase.

Ring a bell in the morning to signal the employees to parade around placing their bouquets on other employees’ desks. After one or two hours with the flowers, a bell rings again and the employees all parade with their flowers to someone else’s desk.

The flower parade bell rings every one or two hours. This way each employee can enjoy different bouquets of flowers during the day. This can go on for as many days as the flowers last.

Preparation:

Punch holes in blank index cards and attach a length of ribbon to each. Then give one to each employee as you announce the Spring Flower Parade. At the top of the card the person who brought in the bouquet writes his or her name and ties the card around the container. Then each person who receives the bouquet signs the card. This way, the same person won’t get the same bouquet twice.
