This is a simple and inexpensive way to have a lot of fun at work. Proclaim a -Silly Hats Day- at least one week in advance so people will have time to purchase or create their hats.

The winners get prizes such as movie passes, a half hour off, candy bars, lunch with supervisor, a get to work late pass, or inexpensive gifts.

Joke of the Week

Having recently transferred from one nursing unit to another at a rural hospital, I did not yet know the names of all 32 patients there.

I also did not recognize their families yet, something the regular staff did with ease.

One evening I was approached by a young woman who asked, “Can Dad have something to eat?”

Trying to be tactful, I politely asked, “And your father is?”

She looked at me strangely and replied, “Hungry.”
