Icebreakers for New Employees<\/h3>\n

New employees often feel like they really don’t belong to the group. Here is a fun way that employees can get acquainted and learn something special about the new employee as well as their co-workers.<\/p>\n

For dessert at a welcoming new employee lunch, pass around a bowl of M & M’s, tell people to take as many as they want, and put them on their plate or napkin.<\/p>\n

Tell everyone in the group not to eat them yet.<\/p>\n

First, tell them to say one thing about themselves for every one of their M & M’s. Then, go around the table so that the employees can tell interesting things about themselves. This way everyone gets to know each other better in a structured and fun atmosphere.<\/p>\n

A guy drives into a ditch, but luckily, a farmer is there to help. He hitches his horse, Buddy, up to the car and yells, “Pull, Nellie, pull!” Buddy doesn\u2019t move.<\/p>\n

“Pull, Buster, pull!” Buddy doesn\u2019t budge.<\/p>\n

“Pull, Coco, pull!” Nothing.<\/p>\n

Then the farmer says, “Pull, Buddy, pull!” And the horse drags the car out of the ditch.<\/p>\n

Curious, the motorist asks the farmer why he kept calling his horse by the wrong name.<\/p>\n

“Buddy\u2019s blind,” said the farmer. “And if he thought he was the only one pulling, he wouldn\u2019t even try.”<\/p>\n
