Children of Employees Christmas Card Coloring Contest<\/h3>\n

It is not too early to start thinking of the Christmas Holiday. Kate’s idea takes some advance preparation.<\/p>\n

A great morale booster we did was to have a coloring contest for the staff’s children in order to come up with our corporate Christmas cards.<\/p>\n

This is how it worked:<\/p>\n

We determined a theme, one year it was -World Peace- another it was -Christmas at my house- and asked the children to draw a picture depicting the theme.<\/p>\n

There were two categories: 0 – 6 years and 7 – 14 years. We asked the parents to put the name and age on a card attached to the drawing with a paperclip and submit the drawing in an envelope.<\/p>\n

This was so that we could put all the pictures up (on a huge piece of brown paper) in the kitchen area, without the names of the children on them – we specifically asked them not to sign their drawings.<\/p>\n

Once the drawings were divided into the specific age groups, each employee had one vote per age group. The two winning drawings were published on a two sided card (after having been scanned) with the name and age of the artists, and sent to our customers and friends. The winning artists also won movie passes and a T-shirt with their drawing printed on it.<\/p>\n

This was the best morale booster because everyone discussed the drawings and had a great time laughing at the cute things the kids drew – plus the parents got to rave over their little artists talents, once the contest was completed.<\/p>\n

Georgia is named for King George II,<\/p>\n

Maryland for Queen Henrietta Maria, spouse of Charles I<\/p>\n

North Carolina and South Carolina for Charles I (from the Latin name for Charles, Carolus);<\/p>\n

Virginia and West Virginia for Queen Elizabeth (the Virgin Queen)<\/p>\n
