Kate’s idea takes some advance preparation.

A great morale booster we did was to have a coloring contest for the staff’s children in order to come up with our corporate Christmas cards.

This is how it worked:

We determined a theme, one year it was -World Peace- another it was -Christmas at my house- and asked the children to draw a picture depicting the theme.

There were two categories: 0 – 6 years and 7 – 14 years. We asked the parents to put the name and age on a card attached to the drawing with a paperclip and submit the drawing in an envelope.

This was so that we could put all the pictures up (on a huge piece of brown paper) in the kitchen area, without the names of the children on them – we specifically asked them not to sign their drawings.

Once the drawings were divided into the specific age groups, each employee had one vote per age group. The two winning drawings were published on a two sided card (after having been scanned) with the name and age of the artists, and sent to our customers and friends. The winning artists also won movie passes and a T-shirt with their drawing printed on it.

This was the best morale booster because everyone discussed the drawings and had a great time laughing at the cute things the kids drew – plus the parents got to rave over their little artists talents, once the contest was completed.

Answer to This Week’s Trivia Question

Q.
