Give Me a Sanity Break<\/h3>\n

When stress overwhelms employees, they need to take a break.<\/p>\n

This is how to avoid the feelings of guilt some employees may have about taking a much needed break – when there is so much work to be done.<\/p>\n

This idea also helps avoid the resentment of busy coworkers.<\/p>\n

Give each employee the same number of “Sanity Break” Awards each month that they can use whenever they feel overly stressed.<\/p>\n

Make the awards for a specific amount of time, 15 or 20 minutes – long enough for someone to go outside, take a short walk, and breathe some fresh air.<\/p>\n

The employee will return refreshed and ready to tackle his or her work.<\/p>\n

Since everyone has the same number of Sanity Break Awards, there is no need for jealousy or resentment.<\/p>\n

“How nice,” I said. “Where does she live?”<\/p>\n

“At the airport,” Chris replied. “Whenever we want her, we just go out there and get her.”<\/p>\n
